LAB SAFETY TRAINING: Newly created profiles will be able to access lab safety fundamentals training the following day, after the nightly data sync places new users in the appropriate learning track.

Important for New Employees & Contingent Workers:
If you were recently hired, or started volunteering for the University, a profile will be created for you automatically via UCPath. You may want to wait for your official employee profile to appear rather than creating a manual one. Check the Access page for more details.

BROWSER COMPATIBILITY

Additional Device Requirements:

Mobile Application & Device Compatibility
Mobile device support is restricted to the SumTotal Next App. Mobile web browsers are not supported. For detailed information on accessing and using the mobile app, see the Learner Guide. The SumTotal Next app has limited functionality. We recommend using a web browser on a desktop or laptop computer to access the UC Learning Center when possible. ECOURSE COMPLETION TIPS

Make sure you are using a supported web browser and operating system. (See next section on Browser Compatibility.)
Either disable pop-up blockers or create an exception so that the browser will allow pop-ups from https://uc.sumtotal.host.
Check the browser's auto-play settings to ensure it is allowing both audio and video to play.
Do not leave eCourses paused for extended periods of time. If you need to step away, exit the course until you can return. Leaving a course paused for too long may prevent it from reporting progress back to the system server. Any disruption in internet connectivity while attempting a course can prevent progress from being recorded.
Exit a course using the Exit link from the course menu when available. If needed, wait for the course to indicate it is okay to close the browser window before doing so. Closing a course window too soon may prevent it from reporting progress back to the system server.
Save a screenshot of your quiz results and/or completion confirmation screen.
Enable & Clear Cookies: You can view this setting in the browser’s security dialog box. Clearing the browser's cookies can often resolve unexpected performance issues. Note, some privacy add-ons block cookies. If you have installed any add-ons, plug-ins, or toolbars in your browser, especially those designed to protect privacy by blocking cookies, these may interfere with the system's ability to record your progress and/or eCourse functionality. You may want to disable them while attempting to complete online courses or use a browser without such.
Courses often require learners navigate through the course in a specific order. Do not open a course in multiple tabs or windows or skip around using the course player menu. Do not use the browser's back button. Note: resources such as documents, policies, links to external websites, etc. are expected to open in a separate tab or window from the course itself.
Check Available Browser Support: For help troubleshooting browser settings mentioned above, and more, refer to your browser's support site (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari).

Access

Anyone with a UCR NetID and password may access the UC Learning Center, though their path and timeline to access varies. This includes:

Faculty, Staff, Academics, Student Employees, and Contingent Workers (including Student Contingent Workers) — or those entered into UCPath in either an employment or contingent worker instance.
UCR Students — this includes nonemployee/non-contingent-worker students who must complete training for facilities access, see below for details.
Affiliate-Exceptions and LMS Guests — individuals who are not entered into UCPath but are involved in campus activities or work and have been issued a UCR NetID, e.g., vendors.

HIRING DEPARTMENTS & SHARED SERVICES CENTERS: Visit the UCPath Campus Support Center website for details on the latest UCR NetID Generation and Onboarding Process that is part of the IAMRiverside Implementation.

Academics, Faculty, and Staff

Newly hired employees and contingent workers automatically gain access to the UC Learning Center two business days after they are made active in UCPath.

Intercampus transfers must be separated from their prior campus before they will be able to log into the LMS from UCR. If they still cannot log in after being active strictly at UCR in payroll for two business days, please Report an Issue via our Service Catalog.

Contingent Workers
(e.g., volunteers, interns, temps)

Contingent workers gain access to the UC Learning Center two business days after they are made active in UCPath.

Volunteers and other contingent workers are subject to UCR Policy 650-85: Volunteers, Contingent Workers and Person of Interest Appointments on Campus. This Policy states:

A volunteer assignment must be established prior to the commencement of work.
All contingent workers, including temporary agency workers, must be entered in UCPath.
Definitions include:
- Unpaid Student Intern: All unpaid student intern volunteers who are performing service solely for their personal educational goals unrelated to the pursuit of their academic degree should be appointed as a Staff Intern, Code CWR 004.
- Unpaid Volunteers: All other unpaid volunteers should be appointed as a Contingent Worker.
- Contingent Worker (CWR): an individual engaged by UCR on a non-permanent basis to complete a specific function or task who does not have an employee relationship with UCR and does not receive compensation through UCPath.

New Contingent Workers	If onboarding someone who does not already have a UCR NetID, use either the Standard Hire, Pre-Hire or IAMRiverside Process to generate a UCR NetID in IAMRiverside and enter them into UCPath. If the CWR already has a UCR NetID, either as a student or via the IAMRiverside Process, enter the UCR NetID into the External System ID field of the onboarding template. Once established in both UCPath and IAMRiverside, the contingent worker (CWR) should be able to log into the UCLC within two days.
Previous or Concurrent Employees	If the contingent worker was previously active in UCPath as an employee, they should regain access to the UC Learning Center once they have been active in UCPath for two business days. If they are current employees they should already have access.

New Contingent Workers

If onboarding someone who does not already have a UCR NetID, use either the Standard Hire, Pre-Hire or IAMRiverside Process to generate a UCR NetID in IAMRiverside and enter them into UCPath.

If the CWR already has a UCR NetID, either as a student or via the IAMRiverside Process, enter the UCR NetID into the External System ID field of the onboarding template.

Once established in both UCPath and IAMRiverside, the contingent worker (CWR) should be able to log into the UCLC within two days.

Previous or Concurrent Employees

If the contingent worker was previously active in UCPath as an employee, they should regain access to the UC Learning Center once they have been active in UCPath for two business days. If they are current employees they should already have access.

LMS Guests and Affiliate-Exceptions

Affiliate-Exceptions and LMS Guests (i.e., those who will NOT be entered into UCPath as an employee or contingent worker) should use the UCLC Supplemental Profile Tool to create a user profile in the system before logging into the UC Learning Center for the first time.

Departments may submit requests for LMS Guest NetIDs to ITS via ServiceLink. LMS Guest NetIDs should strictly be issued to those who need access to the UC Learning Center when they are not being, and have not been, issued any other type of UCR NetID and will NOT be made active in UCPath any role.

Please note, being onboarded by a department in the UCPath personnel system as a contingent worker or employee will create a user profile (i.e., a set of training records and assignments) independent of a profile created using the Supplemental Profile Tool. If you were recently hired, you may prefer to wait to access the system until your employee/CWR profile is available.

UCR Student Access

For student employees and contingent workers, it is critical that student information in Banner matches what is in UCPath - this includes Social Security Number (or ITIN), date of birth, address, phone number, and legal name. If your information has changed since you first started as a student, or you think corrections may be needed, make sure you've updated your data in R'Web > Personal Information where possible or contact the Registrar's Office.

Student access to the UC Learning is not automatic or guaranteed. Non-employee/Non-contingent-worker students should strictly access the UC Learning Center to complete activities required for facilities access, such as when volunteering in a lab for academic credit.

Are you a
CURRENT/NEW employee, intern, or volunteer?

Newly hired student employees and contingent workers gain access to the UC Learning Center two business days after being active in UCPath.

Newly hired student employees and contingent workers (such as volunteers* and interns) should wait to access the UC Learning Center until their employee/CWR profile is available. The employee profile should be accessible within two business days of being active in UCPath. Students should let their departments know about the connection between UCPath status and access to the UC Learning Center if asked to complete training prior to having access to the UC Learning Center.

*Note: Not all volunteers are onboarded in UCPath as contingent workers. Consult your department administrators if you are unsure if you will be onboarded as a contingent worker.

Are you a
FORMER employee, intern or volunteer?

If you no longer work for UCR as an employee or contingent worker, your user profile is inactive. Submit a Help Desk request to have it reactivated.

Are you
STRICTLY A STUDENT?

If you are not a UCR employee or contingent worker, then before you can log in for the first time you must use the UCLC Supplemental Profile Tool to create a user profile in the system.

Please note, being onboarded by a department in the UCPath personnel system as a contingent worker or employee will create a user profile (i.e., a set of training records and assignments) independent of a profile created using the Supplemental Profile Tool. If you were recently hired, you may prefer to wait to access the system until your employee/CWR profile is available. If you suspect you may have multiple profiles in the system and would like your training records merged, please Submit a Help Desk request via our Service Catalog.

If you previously worked at another UC campus but have never worked at UCR, you will also need to use the UCLC Supplemental Profile Tool to create a user profile accessible via your UCR NetID. If you are later onboarded at UCR as an employee or volunteer, then your existing UC employee profile will be reactivated and moved over to our campus. At that point you will have duplicate profiles in the system, please Submit a Help Desk request via our Service Catalog to have your records merged.

UCR students who are not employees or contingent workers should limit access to the UC Learning Center to complete activities required for facilities access, such as when volunteering in a lab for academic credit. Food Safety training required for permits is included in this definition.

A note on duplicate profiles
DON'T PANIC

Using the UCLC Supplemental Profile Tool will create a supplemental profile in the system.
Being made active in the UCPath personnel and payroll system (as an employee, volunteer, or other type of contingent worker) will create a separate employee/CWR profile in the system.
The system does not automatically reconcile multiple or duplicate profiles. This must be done manually. We do periodically review the system for duplicate profiles.

If you have both a supplemental and employee profile in the system, you will only have access to the employee profile and lose access to any training records associated with your supplemental profile. However, those records still exist. If you think you may have duplicate profiles, please Report an Issue via our Service Catalog to have your records merged under your active profile.
